CODY® sponsors presentation on CMS audits at AHIP’s National Conference on Medicare, Medicaid & Duals
TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 13, 2016) — Cody, a consulting and technology company serving health plans nationwide, is sponsoring the presentation “Are You Ready for a CMS Audit? Perspectives on What You Need to Know” during the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) National Conference on Medicare, Medicaid & Duals, taking place Oct. 23-27 in Washington, D.C.
Mike Turrell, CEO of Ultimate Health Plans and a member of Cody’s Advisory Board, will speak on this topic on Oct. 24 as part of the Operations track.
The 45-minute session will provide lessons learned from a Medicare Advantage plan recently subject to a CMS audit. Attendees will hear about one plan’s experience with the audit process and best practices for demonstrating compliance with CMS rules. Turrell will offer insight on steps plans can take prior to the start of the process and advice on how to best use technology solutions and other resources to address issues likely to arise during these audits.
“I’m looking forward to giving attendees a front-row seat to a 2016 Medicare Advantage plan audit by CMS,” said Turrell. “My hope is to enlighten the audience about things I wish I had known prior to an audit, such as unexpected audit actions and technology solutions like CodySoft® that can support the health plan’s burden of proof.”
Prior to starting Tampa-based Ultimate Health Plans, Turrell spent more than 15 years in compliance, legal and the fight against fraud, waste and abuse. He was a principal at consulting firm Brandt and Evans LLC, after holding executive positions at Fortune 500 companies such as WellPoint and WellCare.
From payment rates and value-based payment models to expansion and major new regulations, AHIP’s National Conferences on Medicare, Medicaid & Duals helps professionals stay on top of the latest trends and operational need-to-knows.
“AHIP is a significant player in the health insurance industry,” said Deb Mabari, CEO of Cody. “As a company that helps health plans mitigate risk and increase efficiencies through consulting and technology, we are proud to participate in the conference and support AHIP’s efforts.”
